Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology Taping is a therapeutic technique that involves the application of a special elastic tape to the skin to support and stabilise muscles and joints without restricting their range of motion. Developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase in the 1970s, it is commonly used in sports and physical therapy. The tape helps alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, improve circulation and enhance recovery. By mimicking the skin’s elasticity, it lifts the skin slightly to reduce pressure on pain receptors and promote better blood and lymphatic flow, facilitating the body’s natural healing process. Kinesiology taping is popular among athletes and healthcare professionals for its effectiveness in injury prevention, pain relief and rehabilitation.

The benefits of Kinesiology Taping include:

  • Pain Relief: Alleviates pain from injuries, overuse, and chronic conditions by reducing pressure on pain receptors.
  • Injury Prevention: Supports muscles and joints to prevent strains, sprains and other injuries.
  • Muscle Support: Provides targeted support to muscles, reducing fatigue and enhancing performance.
  • Improved Circulation and Lymphatic Flow: Promotes better blood flow and lymphatic drainage, reducing swelling and inflammation.
  • Accelerated Recovery: Aids in the recovery process by improving circulation and reducing muscle fatigue. Supports healing tissues and promotes improved movement patterns.
  • Improved Athletic Performance: Enhances muscle activation and joint stability, which can improve overall athletic performance.
  • Posture Support: Assists in aiding postural imbalances, improving range of motion and reducing risk of injury.
  • Mind-Body wellness: Assists the re-education of the neuromuscular system. Psychological benefits as well as a placebo effect.
